According to reporters from the China Aviation Industry Corporation, China's first all-composite material multi-purpose drone, the Wing Loong I-D drone, successfully made its maiden flight at a certain airport in the west on the 23rd. The Wing Loong I-D drone has significantly improved in terms of takeoff weight, altitude, flight time, and communication by adopting an all-composite material structure and other measures, and can be used in security fields such as intelligence acquisition, surveillance, reconnaissance, anti-terrorism, border patrol, drug enforcement, and anti-smuggling.
At 16:32 on the 23rd, with the on-site flight commander Li Shaohua issuing the "launch" command, the Wing Loong I-D drone began to taxi, accelerate, and soared into the sky with a graceful posture, flying for 30 minutes in the air and successfully completing its first flight mission as planned.

It is reported that the newly successful Wing Loong I-D drone system is developed based on customer needs, using the mature Wing Loong series drone system as a foundation, featuring an all-composite material structure, high performance, long endurance, and multi-purpose capabilities. By adopting an all-composite material structure, optimizing aerodynamic layout, and equipping with high-power engines, its performance has been significantly enhanced. In reconnaissance, the Wing Loong I-D drone is equipped with a high-definition electro-optical pod (EO) and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) as basic mission payloads, and can be equipped with communication reconnaissance or electronic reconnaissance equipment according to user needs. In combat, four external mounting points can carry more than ten types of laser-guided or GPS-guided precision strike weapons.
The Aviation Industry Corporation stated that the successful maiden flight of the Wing Loong I-D drone further enriches the Wing Loong drone family and enhances the competitiveness of the Wing Loong series drones in the international multi-purpose high-end drone market, believing it will open up broader development space for the Wing Loong series drone market.
